Great Small Volume on Jefferson's ThoughtsThis is a fine little volume on the thoughts of Thomas Jefferson arranged in alphabetical order. It covers numerous topics from character, citizenship, corruption, etc to term limits, war and peace, etc. It is a great book for a person wanting to introduce themselves to Jefferson and his socio-political views. The quotes used are some of the best that Jefferson ever uttered. It brings out the diversity of Jefferson's thought and his greatness. Perfect as a conversation piece.

Thomas Jefferson: Father of Liberty (Trailblazers Biographies)

History can be funThis is a nice little book. It is easy to read and extrememly informative on a broad basis.
Jefferson is portrayed as a man and not some mysterious political figure. The book aquaints you with Mr Jefferson's joy and heartache alike. Ms. Ferris offers a platefull of tasty information and a few facts I had never known before for dessert.
Everyone can enjoy this book and read it rather quickly. My son and I both enjoyed it and the subsequent discussion that it brought about.

Transforming the Mainline Church: Lessons in Change from Pittsburgh's Cathedral of Hope
Published in Paperback by Presbyterian Publishing Corporation (May, 2000)
Average review score:

Mainline MedicineChesnut provides a wealth of 21st Century ministry suggestions through the lens of his own personal experience at Cathedral of Hope. While he is unabashed in sharing his own theological and pastoral perspectives, he is equally open about how surprising and varied have been the resources that have enabled his vision. Great resource for anyone evaluating current trends in Protestant Christianity. Descriptive of renewal in a dwindling, urban, mainline congregation, but applicable to a wide range of congregational situations and settings. I found it inspiring, pastoral via the author's own vulnerability, and filled with both practical suggestions and stimulating reflection. It is a great read!

Average review score:

A good book, but not his best overall.I enjoyed reading this book and seeing how the colonial war unfolded in the character's lives. It is a very good piece of writing, but I feel that his first work was more interesting in certain ways. I hope to see more of these books soon!

An intlligent and importmant study of a neglected subjectBy utilizing interviews and widley-scattered records, fox hasbrought to life the completely neglected internment of an entirenational group during World War II. Those who have written historiesof Italians in America have dealt with this episode, but only insketchy way. Bravissimo for Professor Fox.

Venerable Relic: The Story of the Liberty Bell
Published in Paperback by Eastern Acorn Press (June, 1989)
Average review score:

Excellent, short reference on the history of Liberty BellI have read and referred to this brief history of the Liberty Bell several times. This small volume contains many great pictures of Liberty Bell souvenirs as well as the Bell itself. Concisely written, historical, very neat item if you are interested in knowing more about this great relic! I rate it a 10 among other short narratives about Liberty Bell history. Would make a great addition to any Liberty Bell collection (I have a very large collection.) Well written.

Venice and the Defense of Republican Liberty: Renaissance Values in the Age of the Counter Reformation
Published in Hardcover by University of California Press (June, 1968)
Average review score:

very thoroughThis book lays out the theological and political conflicts between Venice and Rome in the late sixteenth- and early seventeenth-century in impressive detail. Bouwsma shows that a historicist understanding of reality on the part of Venetians led to repeated misunderstandings with Rome's authority, predicated on a sense of authority grounded in an unchanging cosmic hierarchy. An extremely important contribution to political and religious history.
